Message from the Student Government Association

On behalf of the Student Government Association (SGA), we would like to welcome you as you begin to take your first steps in the Penn State Berks community. We’re very pleased that you’ve chosen Penn State Berks to continue your education at the collegiate level, and we will do our best to ensure that you are able to get the fullest experience that you, the student, have come here looking for. Penn State Berks is unique from other colleges, in that we are truly our own community. The smaller classroom sizes allow for professors to give much more attention to student performance, thus ensuring a greater margin for success. In success, you will find true meaning of what it is to have an education from Penn State.

As members of the Penn State community, the thirst for education has been our cornerstone since the University was established. Especially here at Penn State Berks, we as a campus offer more than just classes. We offer a wide variety of extracurricular activities, in addition to multiple avenues into community service and mentoring opportunities. We want to give you the most opportunities and experiences during your time with us here at Penn State Berks.

You may be wondering why you should care about the SGA. Students who are a part of the SGA do their best to advocate for their causes, which we feel will ultimately better the campus as a result. We believe in a diversified campus that is always willing to debate and discuss topics and issues. In addition, the SGA is a great venue to get things done if there is a passion as a driving force. As student advocates, we have promised to do our best to ensure that every perspective is seen, and every idea is heard. If you do choose to get involved, we hope you feel as we feel: that the experience of working with others to better our great campus is a very rewarding one.

This is the start of your college career, and it will ultimately be up to you how you choose to get involved, if at all. We firmly believe that all students should have as many opportunities, to be involved and to have fun with their experience, as we possibly can give. If you feel you can make a difference in some way, shape, or form, then we do hope you’ll join our cause for student advocacy. We are here to serve you, never the opposite.

We’re very excited to have you joining us as a part of our community, and we wish you all the best in your college career here at Penn State Berks. Just remember these four words for the future: WE ARE… PENN STATE!
